Asset managers say data is the biggest barrier to considering biodiversity in investment

A new study by RI and Credit Suisse Unearthing Investor Action on Biodiversity asked asset owners and managers how they are addressing biodiversity.

The majority of investors who respond said they are concerned about biodiversity loss, and over half said they are currently addressing the topic in their portfolio to some extent .

But only 10% had any measurable biodiversity-linked targets. Two-thirds are considering introducing them. 70% said that availability of data was the biggest barrier.

Food and beverages was identified as the most high priority sector by asset owners.
